Although with digital it helps to enhance color in Photoshop or LightRoom adjusting the black and white levels (it takes away that gray film). Fred looks like a lot of fun. When I am on my own I use squeekers that go inside of dog toys - I hold it in my mouth - works well at getting the ears perked up - but sometimes it works too well and they like to come over to you and investigate and plant a nice nose mark on your lense! Crumbled up chip bags work well too. But from what I can tell you are doing a great job! I don’t see any flat lighting here.
