Gunner is an amazing dog. Athletic, goofy and extremely sweet. I had a chance to photograph him at the ASCA trial back at the beginning of March. That day was pretty, but really cold. So cold that you can see his breath in one of the images.
This weekend, I’m off to a herding clinic up in Canada. It’s being held at Tee Creek Farm. A really nice facility where training dogs to herd has been brought forward into the 21st century! Operant conditioning! Rewards! I’ve been up there once before and it’s a bunch of fun.
One other neat thing is that the woman who runs the clinics encourages the attendance of non-traditional herding breeds. The three dogs we’re taking this weekend – a Shar-pei mix (Ellie), a Rat Terrier (Paddy) and a Doberman (Eva)!
