A sneak peek of a sweet little whippet named Seamus. We braved the cold (16 degrees!) to get these photos for a special gift. Despite the cold, it was an eerily beautiful day and we had lots of fun!

I’m so lucky to have friends with gorgeous dogs. These wonderful dogs belong to my dear friend and agility instructor. Not only are her dogs beautiful and well-trained, she has a yard that gets amazing late evening light.

Dearest Eva – the prettiest doberman, EVER!

And the No. 1 ambassador for the breed (there have been more rat terrier adoptions due to this dog, than just about any other breed I know), Paddy. This little guy has to be one of my favorite models. He’s completely cooperative and wonderfully patient. He’s just a great little guy (and, ahem, one of the top agility rat terriers in the country! Go Paddy!)

Martha’s Vineyard Dogs :: Ruby and Otto

In a perfect world, I’d live the life of these dogs: Living in Boston during the week with weekends on the vineyard. Hours spent exploring the miles of gorgeous trails in Chilmark. Cared for by wonderfully loving owners. What a wonderful life – and these are such sweet, beautiful dogs.

Otto is the wire-haired dachshund – my husband wants his nickname to be professor. Ruby is a sweet, old German Short-haired Pointer. It was a privilege to photograph these two!

New Favorite of Ellie

Early this week, I quietly changed my main Fur in Focus gallery page over to a flash-based site (check it out here and let me know what you think). I love that it’s easy to update and navigate, so I’ll be able to keep it full of fresh new images.

While digging back into my archives and reorganizing files, I ran across an unprocessed folder of photos from last winter. Buried in the folder was this photo of my dog, Ellie. It’s one of my new favorite shots of her.

In other fun news, I’ve touched base with the winner(s) of the urban location scouting contest. Look for some fun urban dog portraits featuring the streets, shores and bridges of Cleveland’s West Side. I’m somewhat familiar with the winning owner’s dogs – and they’re going to be so much fun to work with! Thanks for all of the great ideas.

A super quick sneak peek from my shoot with Ruby and Otto while I was up in Massachusetts. Ruby is the pointer, Otto is the wire-haired and terribly handsome dachshund.

I did a quick session yesterday with these amazingly beautiful dogs. Their fur! Their “momma” told me that they had spent three hours at the groomer the day before the shoot – it paid off – they looked just beautiful!

BIS! Jetty! Twice!

I dug into last years archives to pull out these photos of my dear friend’s Portuguese Water Dog, Jetty. Why? Because he had the most amazing day at the local UKC show on Sunday. This beautiful boy walked away with two Best in Show wins – capturing it at both the morning and afternoon shows.

Jetty has had his moments over the last few years! It took his owner years to get his registration papers. He’s one of those big goofy male dogs that matured slowly (but charmingly – he’s got a perpetual innocence that makes him so sweet). At the last show, he refused to enter the ring. He went right up to the edge of the ring and then sat himself down and wouldn’t budge.

Well, this past weekend, with the help of his groomer/handler, Stacy, all of Janet’s hard work with this guy came together and he showed to perfection. He’s the ultimate underdog and pulled off two terribly exciting wins. I couldn’t be happier for my dear friend who owns this lovely dog.

And one shot from earlier this summer (Jetty is owned by the same family who owns Lydia). Notice how he’s completely dry? He’s the PWD that doesn’t like to swim.

After much deliberation, I finally narrowed down the aussie puppy pictures to just under forty or so. I’ll be printing these up into a brag book for the puppies’ owner. From the final set, I picked a few favorites to share here. The night I took these, the dogs were participating in a puppy class in their front yard. Enjoy!

More Schnauzer! ~ Columbus Pet Photographer

Here’s a few more shots of this beautiful pair of schnauzers. Lulu is the star. The big sister to her bigger, younger brother. She’s working that sequined collar and looks like a million bucks. Fancy girl? Little diva? Maybe. But really, she’s the softest, sweetest little bug. When I first arrived at the house, she backed right up and tucked herself under my leg so that I could pet her. She’s just about the softest dog ever and I promise you’d all be happy to pet her for hours. She’s a sweetheart.

Quincy is the big guy. A little bit scared at first, but curious to stick around and loves to play with new toys. I rarely see standard schnauzers around, but would love to see more. I love the fur on his face! He’s such a beautiful boy.

First you Tumble, then you Spin

Red. Merle. Aussie. Pup.

Over the years I seem to have found my peeps who hold a love in their hearts for this particular combination. At an agility trial a few months ago, a couple with a similar pup, commented that they had a reputation for being a bit feisty. I can tell you that this little one here is an absolute doll. Brother of Tumble. Son of Flip. This is Spin.

Don’t worry…there’s one more pup from the litter that I have photos of to share! More aussie puppy goodness will arrive here soon!
